§ 6-5.1. Same—Water conservation.

  • (a)

    Maximum flow rates. The following maximum flow rates and/or water usage standards shall apply for fixtures in:

    (1)

    Any new building or structure or portions thereof;

    (2)

    Additions to existing buildings that provide facilities or shelter for public assembly, education, business, mercantile, institutional, or residential occupancy; and

    (3)

    Hotels, motels, condominiums, day care centers, nursing homes, and apartments.

    (b)

    Tank type water closets shall provide a maximum flush not to exceed 3½ gallons.

    (c)

    Shower heads shall have a maximum flow which does not exceed three gpm at pressure ranges from 20 to 80 psig.

    (d)

    Lavatory and kitchen faucets shall be equipped with flow controllers, aerators or spray taps which result in a maximum delivery not to exceed 2¾ gpm (+0.25 gpm) at pressure ranges from 20 to 80 psig when both hot and cold water supply are in full open position.

    (e)

    Flushometer type water closets shall adequately flush and clean fixtures, and shall discharge no more than three gallons per flush.

    (f)

    Tank type urinals shall have a maximum flush not to exceed three gallons per flush.

    (g)

    Flushometer type urinals shall adequately flush and clean fixtures, and shall discharge not more than one gallon per flush.

    (h)

    Lavatory faucets for public facilities may be equipped with flow controllers, aerators, or spray taps which result in a maximum of:

    (1)

    Outlet devices which limit the flow of hot water to a maximum of 0.5 gpm and a cold water or combined cold and hot water delivery not to exceed two gpm; or

    (2)

    Be equipped with self-closing valves that limit delivery of hot water to a maximum of 0.25 gpm and delivery of cold water to a maximum of 1¾ gpm for a maximum combined delivery of two gpm.
